I’ve learnt this from watching my dad photograph people. He’d calm their nerves by being silly, cracking out dad jokes, and never taking himself too seriously. Their walls came down, and that’s exactly what he captured.

Being in front of a camera is awkward. Trust me, I hate it too. So I do what my dad did: I make it silly. You’ll be doing piggybacks, racing each other, whispering ridiculous stories into each other’s ears, and if all else fails, I’ll bust out a silly dance and a truly terrible Irish accent. Within minutes, you’ve forgotten the camera’s even there, and that’s when the magic happens.

And because I spent 4 years shooting fashion and lifestyle, you get photos with an editorial edge that feel modern, colourful and stylish, without any awkward posing.
